Save Ann Moss Way Care home

Save Ann Moss Way Care home

The Issue

Just 2 years ago, my Nan Josephine was diagnosed with Dementia. At the time I felt that I had lost my Nan, the Nan we loved and adored until we found Ann Moss Way Care Home.

Before my Nan moved to Ann Moss Way Care Home, we saw her health deteriorate quicker then anyone could have expected. She struggled with remembering words, names and even who we, her family were all together.

Ann Moss Way Care Home in the simplest term, saved my Nan. The Nan we loved and cared that we thought we had lost came back to us. In a matter of a week she was smiling, laughing and displaying happiness which seemed a distant memory for both my Nan and my family. This was now her forever home.

We were recently made aware that Ann Moss Way Care Home was being closed due to a decrease in demand for specialist care units. National figures however show that the number of people suffering from dementia is increasing yearly, in fact Charity Aid UK have stated that 1 in 3 suffers of Dementia are not getting the right care.

The effect on someone with Dementia moving home is known to be massively stressful for the patient including a deterioration in their condition. Routine and familiarity are an essential part of stabilising Dementia patients. After my Nan being with Ann Moss Way Care Home for a year this change will be detrimental to her mental health. It has been suggested that she would move to Streatham resulting in a 2 hour round trip for my family, reducing the time we are able to spend with her.

The staff at Ann Moss Way Care Home continuously go above and beyond their duty of care, and the improvement in my Nans condition is evidence to this. We cannot thank the staff any more for all of the amazing and outstanding work they do on a daily basis.

We ask that you take the time to sign the petition to help us save our Nan’s forever home.
