Save our Taxi Rank and Taxi Service at Newcastle Airport.

We are the current drivers at Newcastle Airport that have been providing a Taxi service for over 50 years to the travelling public.
The contract to provide a Taxi Service was tendered out and then awarded to a Private hire company that can only provide pre booked transport.
The contract was awarded to the company that offered more cash than any one else.
The travelling public will suffer by being charged much highet fares then we are charging at the moment and would have continued to charge.
We are led to believe that they will increase the fares by a considerable amount.
This is what they have done at other Airports they operate from.
According to reviews on Tripadvisor and other similar online websites they provide a very poor service( the company are called Arrow Cars)
We the current drivers are trying to save our Taxi Rank that has taxis available for IMMEDIATE HIRE 24 hours a day all year around with fully qualified drivers.
We are asking Newcastle City Council who are one of the partners that own Newcastle Interrnational Airport to take the lead in saving our Taxi Rank.
Manchester and Birmingham Airports had the same issue with Arrow Cars now operating from there. However with the help of the local councils they have retained the Taxi Ranks from where the hackney drivers continue to work.
