The design of Gravois currently favors one type of user:  the automobile. This road is a critical artery through the densest and most diverse neighborhoods in St. Louis to downtown. It is heavily used by pedestrians while being under used by transit riders and cyclists because of its design: eight lanes and many intersections. This design encourages cars to travel at excessive speeds. The improvements should create safer pedestrian crossings, a dedicated bicycle track, and a dedicated bus lane on each side of Gravois Road.

Join The Greater Gravois Initiative as we seek to gather local support from residents, businesses, and elected officials to create a special district to organize a plan for all of Gravois' users and find a way to fund these improvements.  Local funding - to match federal or state funding - and a great deal of community input are needed for projects of this complexity to happen.  We don't need to settle for the bare minimum; let's make Gravois Great!
