The Wellington Butte Roadless Area is located in the foothills of the Applegate Valley in southwestern Oregon. The area contains 7,527 acres of arid grassland, oak woodland, chaparral and dry conifer forest.

The area should be protected as a wilderness area, but instead, the Medford District BLM is encouraging unauthorized off-road vehicle use. They have also proposed the Middle Applegate Timber Sale and have refused to remove the Wellington Butte Roadless Area from the logging proposal. The wild beauty and ecological integrity of this important region is being threatened by BLM logging and off-road vehicle use. We believe the area should be protected for future generations, removed from the "Timber Harvest Land Base," and closed to off-road vehicle use.

We also ask the Medford District BLM to withdraw the entire Wellington Butte Roadless Area from the Middle Applegate Timber Sale Planning Area. The Wellington Butte Roadless Area is better suited for conservation and non-motorized recreation than timber production or off-road vehicle use. Save the Wellington Butte Roadless Area!
