Volkswagen of America, Recall the Routan Due to a Major Safety Issue..

The Issue

Back in 2012 We purchased a Volkswagen Routan to replace our last van we owned, later on we realized that Chrysler had built these vans from their Town and Country platform minus some body style and badging. Over this last summer we ran into an issue with a component called the Total Integrated Power Module or TIPM for short where the engine would crank but not turn over, or the engine would turn over and then stall. I started researching this issue as Chrysler had this issue on all of the Dodge/Chrysler Vans and Dodge/Jeep Full size SUV's between 2011 and 2012. In essence this device would start causing various issues with the vehicles, from stalling because it controls the fuel pump, to the windows rolling down on their own, and the radio automatically turning on full volume, or the alarm panicking for no reason. Chrysler ended up recalling all of their vehicles as there were accidents that occurred and some with possible injury (NHTSA stats). When I went to VW about this issue, they felt that a recall was NOT necessary, the repair was over $1200 for something that should not have failed in the first place. I am asking Volkswagen to reconsider this as Chrysler, the maker of this vehicle already recalled their vehicles due to the same exact Mopar part that exists in your Routan's, we had a close call with our van, and i don't want to see someone get hurt or killed being on the highway and the device malfunctions and shuts down vital components. This isn't for the reimbursement piece, but more for the safety and well-being of other Routan Drivers, and their families.
