To Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada: Keep the Canadian fighter planes in Syria and Iraq!
The Issue
A little over one year ago, Corporal Nathan Cirillo was shot to death by an Islamist terrorist while standing guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Ottawa. This tragedy has been a clear indication that the war with the Islamic State is not being waged only outside Canada, that it gathers its bloody harvest even in the seemingly safest place, a few hundred metres away from the Canadian Parliament. link to petition below the video.
Several weeks after Nathan Cirillo’s murder, the Conservative government of Canada sent six CF-18 fighter planes to Iraq and Syria in order to respond in the only effective way to the campaign of terror and barbaric cruelty unleashed by ISIS. As Canadian citizens, we were proud of our government’s decisive stand in defense of freedom, democracy and the historic Western values. We knew that the Canadian armed forces were truly fulfilling their mission by being proactive in preventing future acts of terror in Canada and abroad.
Unfortunately, the new Liberal government has unilaterally decided to withdraw the Canadian fighters from the Middle East. Its argument that the way of diplomacy is more effective in dealing with murderous thugs than military actions has been proven wrong and wrong again in the course of human history and yet it is being now imposed on the Canadian society. However, very many Canadians disagree with this wishful thinking, correctly perceiving it as a show of politically correct indecision and weakness on the part of the Canadian authorities. Appeasing a bully should never be even considered an option unless one is prepared to admit a defeat.
Canadian fighter planes should stay in Iraq and Syria. If this is your conviction, please sign this petition.
