Hello, I am Kayla Hoyte, a rising junior of the IB program. I am writing to keep Doctor Elizabeth Weaver as the Pre-IB Language Arts I teacher of Cypress Creek High School. Many students have told me that she is leaving the IB program due to the fact that she is too lenient on her students, and that the talent show she hosts every year is unacceptable. I was her student last year in my first year of 'IB'. I had the best experience in her class. She taught me to be creative and see life in a different way. She took the stress away from AP Human Geography tests. It was the one class that I did not want to leave. She went above and beyond what her curriculum required by teaching us life lessons such as looking at different perspectives and managing time and stress. This applies to many students that she taught over the years. Many of us students and alumni love Doctor Weaver for what she's done, and we believe that nobody can top her standards. Her class taught me to look outside the box, (literally!) and to see things in a different and greater way. Her class granted me confidence that I would not have gotten elsewhere. I believe that every IB student should have Doctor Weaver in their high school career because she teaches us that grades are not a priority and to have an open mind. When stress puts you down, her class is a safe haven. We are able to express ourselves in both the classroom and the IB talent show. The talent show let us show what we really are behind the scenes. It reminds us that each and one of us is special and have a talent worth showing off. It created so many memories that cannot ever be accomplished with another teacher. If Doctor Weaver is taken out of the faculty, then incoming IB Freshmen would not be able to experience all that she’s done the same way as we have.
