The Issue

Tom is a 3 year old black kitty who suffered severe facial trauma. On July 27, 2014 at 8am Tom was sitting in his room mangled with a bloody jaw and nose. There were drops of blood by the window where he had dragged himself back in and he was exhibiting difficulty breathing. Tom's mom immediately brought him to the vet hospital. It was during the next morning in the daylight that Tom's mom could clearly see tire tracks looping around the lawn and sidewalk of her apartment complex, this is where the blood was seen from the tracks to Tom's apartment(There are pictures). Tom's mom has gotten some assistance with his medical bills but Tom continues to need ongoing medical care due to the severity of the trauma. Tom is a family pet who is extremely loved and a member of a family. To date no charges have been pursued or pressed against the alleged perpetrator. This is important because ALL life matters. It is important because we as humans have an obligation to practice basic human decency. In addition, crimes against animals are a strong predictor of future violence towards people. This is important because Tom is STILL suffering and his perpetrator is still roaming free. Please urge Mayor Wood to diligently work to ensure proper legislation is developed and implemented so that all the members of the Oceanside Community are properly protected. This is about Justice for Tom. Please Mayor Wood take this seriously and ensure all the residents that their family's safety is a priority.
