Charge the killer who bullied, stalked, and murdered 14-year old Rashawn Williams Jr. as an adult.

The Issue

On Tuesday September 2, 2014 14-year old Rashawn Williams was walking with his little brothers to a neighborhood store in the Mission District of San Francisco when he was stabbed to death. He was killed in broad daylight on the street in front of his brothers.

Rashawn had recently been admitted to Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory as a President’s Scholar - a coveted title and scholarship that he had earned because of his excellent academic record. He was a straight A student at Buena Vista Horace Mann K-8 Community School and was fluent in Spanish and English. He wanted to attend Harvard University one day and major in engineering.

He was murdered by two killers, one of which was his former classmate. The other has not been caught yet. The killer in custody had planned and announced the killing to others before going through with it. He committed the murder in cold blood, and his actions are clearly the ones of an adult criminal. If he is capable of killing such a harmless, innocent person as Rashawn, it is possible that he could severely harm others too, especially if provoked.  Furthermore, he could cause more harm to Rashawn’s family and network of friends if given the chance to leave prison at an early age. The killer is currently only being charged as a minor, and if convicted, will be free by the age of 23 at the latest. Please help keep our family and the general community safe from this murderer, by signing this petition to try the killer as an adult.

We respectfully ask you to please sign by November 30th, as the District Attorney's office needs time to prepare before the trial.

It is with a heavy, yet grateful heart that we thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

~The Rashawn Williams Jr. Family
