Dismantle the Disruptive "Artwork" from Our Historic Town Square in Bantry

The Issue

670,000 Euro. Our beloved town, Bantry, has unfortunately become the home of an unwelcomed newcomer - a controversial piece of "artwork" that disrupts the historic aesthetics. This petition carries personal resonance; as someone born and raised in bantry and an taxpayer all my life I cannot keep quiet anymore about the waste, the placement of this jarring addition in the heart of our quaint town is unspeakably frustrating. The eyesore detracts from the beauty of our square, only the wealthy would manage even planning for something so out of keeping with the traditional, colourful, friendly vibe in our town. There is no soul or connection to the town in this shapeless empty piece of "art". In my opinion.

Moreover, the indignation extends beyond mere aesthetics. The financial implications cannot be overlooked. The expenditure of our hard-earned taxpayer money towards this piece is deemed inappropriate by many within the community from what I gather in comments online.

Our request is twofold. Firstly, we request the removal of this piece that is incongruous with the architectural harmony of our town. Even if only moved up to the library or elsewhere. Also transparency as to the relevant offices that approved such extract spend when we currently have homeless people in our own small town.

Bantry is our town - a historical treasure that bears witness to shared dreams, collective battles, and shared victories. It is our responsibility and right to maintain its aesthetic integrity and ensure judicious use of our financial contribution. We demand consideration, respect, and appreciation for our hard-earned money. Together, let's make the right choice for Bantry. Please sign this petition.
