Use coupons to save money

The Issue

The US consumer has used coupons for over 100 years. The history of coupons in the United States goes back to 1888 when Coca Cola distributed the first coupons that have been registered so far, to promote their new free drink. Since then the market has been increasing and manufacturers, distributors and consumers have understood its impact at an economic level, both to promote the volume of their sales and to save money to the consumer.

Today a large portion of consumers in the United States use coupons whether they are digital, from newspapers, magazines, post ads or subscriptions to product discount programs. In a study conducted by coupon.com found that more than 55 million Americans use digital coupons. So if you plan to spend an amount of money for general purchases do not discount this tool that provides you with real savings.

With the use of coupons you can save a considerable amount of money. There are even people who claim to be largely dependent on coupons. Programs such as "Extreme Coupon" and a large number of blogs, websites and other media such as Weusecoupons, StockpilingMoms and Ahorrosparamama  can teach you how to perfect this discipline.

However, without being an expert taking these simple steps you can benefit from the use of the coupon:

  •   If you're anti-technology spend a little of your time cutting coupons in different newspapers, preferably on weekends.
  • Join a club, web or blog where they teach you the best places to get and combine coupons from both the manufacturer and the local.
  •  Coupons and offers are cyclical and usually as a consumer you have preferences for certain products or brands. Once you know what you consume do not lose track of the offers that the manufacturer makes and buy with coupons.
  • Use a coupon to place your coupons and always keep it in your wallet so you do not forget when you pay. You can file them according to the type of product or service or by name.
  • Send alerts to your cell phone as a reminder of the expiration of your coupons.
  • Print the offers that interest you and save them immediately in the coupon so you have them available when you need them.
  • Do not delete the coupons in your email until they have expired. Many establishments accept the coupon online, so you can show it to the cashier from your phone without having to spend on printing.

Use coupons as an art, remember that organization is the key.  Make a list of what you need and even anticipate the approximate dates of the offers, the more money you can save.
