Whilst councillors attempt to decipher the real costs of subsidising a badly costed white elephant, senior officers Betty, Kennally & Mason work frantically behind the scenes to convince One and All of the merits of placing a taxpayer-funded Stadium on a farm miles outside Truro and already suffering huge levels of congestion... and that's before the lone developer, Inox, builds several thousand more homes for... whom exactly, we're not sure... (for a more rational explanation, see: https://cornwalldevelopersparadise.wordpress.com/2018/03/28/the-problems-with-cornwall-councils-growth-obsession/) Given that Sainsbury's and the other developers have already pulled out of this doomed project, not least due to the lack of proper sewerage infrastructure and the much talked about Northern Access Route into Treliske/Truro, one wonders who the council is helping out with our taxes: Cornwall's beleaguered population or a rogue developer? One resident wrote: "I want a stadium for Cornwall too, not a developer bailout cleverly disguised as a sports venue in the wrong place and funded by taxpayers, many of whom will never see it. Why haven’t they applied for lottery funding, like other sports venues? Why isn’t the government paying for the lot? God knows they’ve screwed us out of enough cash in recent years, not forgetting the millions wasted by John Prescott and his army of spanner monkeys, from Westminster to Plymouth, via Bristol, Taunton and Exeter. Why aren’t the costings done properly including the huge sewerage issue? Why isn’t the northern access road to Treliske and Truro built first (I expect we’ll have to pay for this too, in 20 years’ time)? Why isn’t air quality properly monitored, given it’s already toxic in Truro due to excess traffic (see AQMA on Council website)? Rather ironic that they want us to pay for a sports facility for the few/elite, whilst accepting that the rest of us will get chronic respiratory issues with little chance of reaching Treliske within
