Bring back String Channel and Pay compensation for viewership loss
The Issue
The String Channel serves as a pioneering medium for disseminating factual information, shedding light on elements that pose a threat to the integrity of Bharat. However, it has fallen victim to orchestrated attacks by vested interests, resulting in its unwarranted removal from the YouTube platform through mass reporting campaigns. Such actions constitute a blatant infringement upon the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression enshrined in Article 19(1)(a) of the Indian Constitution.
Furthermore, these concerted efforts to silence the String Channel not only violate constitutional rights but also contravene the principles of natural justice as outlined in Article 21, which guarantees the right to due process. The indiscriminate targeting of the channel without proper investigation or opportunity for defense undermines the rule of law and fair procedure.
Additionally, the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) provides provisions to safeguard against malicious complaints and abuse of legal processes. Sections such as 182 (False information, with intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person) and 211 (False charge of offence made with intent to injure) are relevant in addressing the misuse of reporting mechanisms to suppress legitimate expression.
Therefore, we demand the immediate restoration of the String Channel on YouTube and urge authorities to take decisive action against those responsible for the mass reporting campaign. Such action should not only serve to reinstate the channel but also to deter future attempts to stifle free speech through similar means, thereby upholding the constitutional values of democracy, liberty, and justice.
