Harborne, a suburb of Birmingham, has many sports clubs that are run for the benefit of children and young people. Because of the lack of playing fields in the area, most activities take place away from Harborne and therefore involve extra travel and inconvenience for those involved.

Redrow Homes has submitted a planning application for 103 dwellings on Ravenhurst Playing Fields (off Knightlow Road, Harborne)

Whilst the site has not been used for some 11 years, it is not through a lack of trying by many sports organisations. But the land owners (The Fathers of the Oratory, Hagley Road, Birmingham) have refused point blank to engage in any conversation with any club or individual about how the site could be used.

Although the land is privately owned it is still registered as a playing field with Birmingham City Council.

The Friends of Ravenhurst Playing Fields feel it is their duty to let the Council be aware of the urgent need to use the Fields for sport.

Once they are lost, they are lost forever!
