BBC Proms - Let’s have an evening of Keith Emerson and ELP at Proms 2026

BBC Proms - Let’s have an evening of Keith Emerson and ELP at Proms 2026
The Issue
Imagine the reverberating sounds of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer (ELP) echoing through the esteemed halls of the BBC Proms. In the 1970s, ELP was a groundbreaking phenomenon, conquering the music world with their unique fusion of Classical, Rock, Jazz, Folk, and intricate ballads.
It is time for the British people to warmly acknowledge the influence and lasting legacy of Progressive Rock with its classical and jazz influences, and in particular, honour the music of Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer.
2026 will also be the tenth anniversary of the passing of Keith, and Greg... What better way to celebrate both of their lives with their music being payed prominently at the Royal Albert Hall (ELP played there in October 1992 and The Nice performing in August 1968!)?
This idea has been formulated and called by the Emerson Lake and Palmer Appreciation Group, based on Facebook, but is a movement committed to promoting the legacy and contribution to music, by ELP. Their musical prowess was epitomised in Keith Emerson's Piano Concerto Number One, a composition that showed him to be a serious composer and maestro. This,, along with the music of ELP and the Nice, zigzagged across musical genres and showcased a degree of cross-disciplinary virtuosity seldom seen before or since.
The BBC Proms, with its tradition of celebrating rich and diverse musical heritages, is an ideal platform to honour the music of Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer. It's unarguably the perfect venue to pay homage to these iconic British musicians and powerfully decant their genre-defying works onto a new generation, thus ensuring their legacy continues to evolve and inspire.
We are also now looking for a VIP ELP 'Ambassador', that will persuade the BBC that this is the 'Time and Place' for this celebration... Please let me know if you or someone you know 'fit-the-bill' and are interested via the Press Tab or via and contact the Admins: https://www.facebook.com/groups/162530520477144/
This isn't just a petition; it's a ringing call to the fans and staunch supporters of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, as a band and as individuals. Now is the time to assert our collective voice (of which I know there are many) and help the music that defined a generation resonate once again — in the hallowed echelon of the BBC Proms. Sign this petition to persuade the BBC Proms to stage an evening devoted entirely to the monumental music of Keith Emerson and ELP. Celebrate their unique sound, their enduring influence, and the uncompromisingly British spirit they encapsulated. Your signature can bring about a renaissance of ELP's music in the most fitting of venues: The BBC Proms. Sign now and let's make it happen for the summer of 2026!
