Thank you so much the everybody who has signed so far. I didn’t expect this to blow up so big but I am so glad it did! Please continue sharing everywhere including Facebook and text because that will help spread the word and cause a chain reaction of people sharing.
Also, just in case you don’t know me: I am Charles Barry and i’m a junior at Walton. I have been on the team since freshman year so I got to experience a normal year 2019-2020 season. This season was normal and felt finally back to the normal, full spirited, and hype energy we feel at meets. Until now.
Last night we had a meet that had to be split by girls and boys because of the capacity rules. This out a heavy burden on my coach as he had to change the plans for pretty much the whole meet. Thankfully, he puts a a lot of effort to make sure parents can still watch and got a streaming link sent out to our team. It also burdened us swimmers because instead of having the girls events as a buffer between the boys events, we were moving really fast and this gave us barely anytime for cooldown which helps prevent injuries and helps our body get back to a normal state after racing. This not only negatively affects performance but also causes extreme exhaustion and in some cases sickness because of how hard we have to swim in such little time. We also didn’t have many spectators to cheer us on let alone our whole girls team to cheer us on and be there. I spoke with many of my teammates about the new rules and we all think it is something that is so dumb and should not be in place.
So once again, thank you so much for signing. Please continue sharing so that is high school swimmers can win our season back.
