It has been brought to my attention that SEDOM in Woodstock IL will be closing it's doors at the end of this school year. Reason being that the districts do not want to pay for it anymore, sending these special needs children to their regular school districts. For them to be picked on, humiliated, among other things. These children need this school, the staff aren't there just to be there, they love and care for these children. Some of which have known the kids their whole lives since they started school.
This hurts me to see as I have a brother who went to SEDOM his whole life, met great staff there that were there for him and made him the great and wonderful person he is today. These teachers and staff are the heart and soul of this school and if it wasn't for them I do not know where the students would be.
Us as adults, parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, grandparents need to raise awareness of this and make sure that those doors stay open for the students that need it, not just for next year, but for years and years to come!
