LETTER SEEKING URGENT INTERVENTION FOR NGUYEN VAN CHUONG

My name is Nguyen Truong Chinh, born 1945, mobile phone: 01626627673 Address: Village 1 Hamlet Binh Dan, District Kim Thanh, Province Hai Duong.
I am writing this letter to protest the innocence of my son Nguyen Van Chuong who may be executed anytime for a wrongful death sentence.
Dear Sirs and Madams, my son 's case is as follow:

– 21hr evening of the 14th July 2007, a Major policeman was murdered at Dinh Vu District, Hai Phong Province. At the same time, my son was at Hamlet Binh Dan , District Kim Thanh, Province Hai Duong, there were many witnesses. ( That is some 40 kms away from the crime scene ).

1- But the police, the Courts, the prosecutors all decided to give my son the death penalty, although they could not provide any concrete evidence to show that Chuong

was the killer, but only based on the statements from 2 witnesses Vu Toan Trung and Phuong.

2- The Investigation Bureau and Courts deliberately overlooked obvious alibis to prove that my son was not at the scene such as: did not allow new witnesses to testify in Court ( although were recommended several times by the defense lawyers ) , refused to listen to the cries of innocence from the suspects.

For the last 8 years long, my family and Chuong had sent many letters and forms protesting his innocence to all the relevant departments, to the Communist Party, to the Government and to the Congress, including a letter written in my own blood to the President but no one bothered to take a look at the case to ensure that justice was served

October 2014, Court and the Procuracy officials gave us and Chuong a notice that by the end of December 2014 Nguyen Van Chuong will be executed.

I sincerely hope that international organizations will speak up to help us, by making a request to the Vietnamese Government to delay the execution of Nguyen Van Chuong. To request a proper investigations into the many alibis that proved that Nguyen Van Chuong was not even at the scene, as well as the severe tortures, forced confessions and coercions by the police of the Investigation Bureau towards Nguyen Van Chuong , of which Chuong had denounced at both the Trial and the Appeal Court.
