NO TO THE DISPLACEMENT OF MARIACHIS AT MARIACHI PLAZA IN BOYLE HEIGHTS!

NO TO THE DISPLACEMENT OF MARIACHIS AT MARIACHI PLAZA!

NO TO THE ELACC’S CONSTRUCTION PROJECT!

In times of uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic that has left thousands of people without jobs, thousands in hospitals, and hundreds of fatalities in Los Angeles County, mariachis working in the historical "Plaza del Maraichi" feel threatened by a new ELACC’S real state construction project that threatens to displace them and seize the only place, where the have been able to work and play their music, and support their families economically for decades.

Los Angeles - Dozens of local mariachis, their families, with the support of residents and supporters of the local community, who work in the historic Plaza del Mariachi in Boyle Heights demand a halt to the East Los Angeles Community Corporation real estate construction project ( ELACC) in Plaza del Mariachi that threatens to displace mariachis from the only place where they have been able to work and provide financial support to their families for decades.

The project that ELACC plans to build with Metro's permission is a five-story building, with 60 rental apartments for low-income families, with some commercial spaces, behind the Plaza del Mariachi on the corners of Bailey St., and Pennsylvania Ave. The architectural design undermines the historic architecture of the Plaza del Mariachi. It will force the mariachis to vacate the square, leading them to relocate to other areas to look for work in times of uncertainty due to the increase in coronavirus infections in California, mainly in Los Angeles County, where there are no signs of a decline.

ENOUGH WITH FALSE PROMISES FROM COMMUNITY CORPORATIONS!

NO TO THE DISPLACEMENT OF MARIACHIS THAT WORK AT MARIACHI PLAZA!

NO TO THE INVASION AND DESTRUCTION OF THE HISTORICAL PLAZA!
