Tell the Senate to Take Action on the Paycheck Fairness Act

The Issue

On January 9, 2009, the House of Representatives passed the Paycheck Fairness Act with bipartisan support. The Senate version of the bill (S. 182) has been languishing in Congress ever since.

The Paycheck Fairness Act would close loopholes in the Equal Pay Act of 1963, provide the same remedies in court for pay discrimination based on sex as for discrimination based on race or national origin, prohibit retaliation against workers who inquire about employers' wage practices or disclose their own wages, and increase penalties for equal pay violations. It also establishes a competitive grant program to develop salary negotiation training for women and girls.

Equal pay for equal work. It's that simple. Tell your Senator that you want them to take action by bringing the Paycheck Fairness Act up for a vote.
