Tell GWU to Improve Campus Resources for Sexual Assault Victims

Tell GWU to Improve Campus Resources for Sexual Assault Victims
The Issue
From November 2009 to January 2010, Stand Up For DC Women and George Washington University's Sexual Violence Awareness Group send out 5,097 surveys to GWU graduate and undergraduate students in order to access students' knowledge of reporting procedures following a sexual assault and the resources available to victims of sexual assault both at the GWU Hospital and on the GWU campus. We found that 74% of students do not feel the GWU community adequately educates students about the resources available to victims of sexual assault and 61% of students feel sexual assault is a problem at GWU.
Therefore, we demand GWU develop more informative and accurate educational materials, workshops, and resources regarding the prevention and response to sexual assault for all students on the GWU campus to ensure that all students are fully aware of what resources are available to victims of sexual assault on campus and beyond.
