Tell Governor Schwarzenegger to Defend Clean Energy!

California has one of the most progressive energy plans in the U.S., which includes development of 20 percent renewables by the year 2010. However, this is under threat as the state is fast-tracking the import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from around the Pacific Rim. LNG is a dangerous greenhouse gas, and its extraction threatens pristine ecosystems in the Russian Far East and the Amazon Rainforest. Write to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to let him know your support for clean energy.

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger,

Thank you for your commitment to renewable energy in California! I am writing because I am concerned that your clean energy plan faces a major threat by fossil fuels in the form of Liquefied Natural Gas. I want to remind you that renewable energy is not only good for the environment, it is also good for our economy. It creates 700 percent more jobs per kilowatt than fossil fuels do. And it forges a path to energy independence. LNG, on the other hand, will handcuff our state to decades of foreign fossil fuel dependence.

Please uphold California’s promise of a clean energy future, and reject industry demands for LNG!
