Promote Gender Equality in Schools in Africa

Promote Gender Equality in Schools in Africa
The Issue
African girls need your help.
Each year, these girls are denied the chance to go to school.
From a global perspective, gender inequalities in primary school are greatest in Western and Central Africa. In Sub-Saharan Africa, only 67 girls for every 100 boys are enrolled in a college or tertiary school at any given time. This amount of inequality is not acceptable. They deserve much better.
In September 2000, the United Nations made the elimination of gender disparity in all levels of education a Millennium Goal, with a target achievement date of 2015. This is a goal that all people can benefit from because, as UNICEF says, "Advancing the rights of women and children advances humanity".
Our petition will be sent to United States Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on International Operations and Organizations, Human Rights, Democracy and Global Women's Issues in order to raise awareness of the problem in African schools. Please join us in supporting the rights of African girls. Sign our petition to promote gender equality in Africa.
