More Muslim Women as Business Managers in Islamic Mosque/Masjid

Conley, GA, United States
Created May 3, 2010

The Issue

Women were very active in all areas of life in the first Islamic community about 1,400 years ago. This community lead by our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was not surprised or alarmed by women being on the battlefield (burying the dead and taking up arms when necessary). Lady Aisha taught the men of her day about Islam and the way of our Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Who could better do it?  Why is it today that we see so few women in positions of power within Islamic communities? Islam does not teach that women be second class. Why do so many Imams/Amirs encourage this openly or in silence by not encouraging women to be Amirahs (business managers in the mosque/masjid), head of security or treasurer?

In Islamic communities where women are treasurers, business managers on Surah (governing body) and Consultative boards you see great progress.

Let's end centuries of misguided practices and slave class positions of women in Islam. Open the positions of Business Managers, Treasurers, Security Manager, etc. to women in Islamic communities.
