Justice for 'Parrot': Pinned down, thrown, and executed by police
The Issue
On September 12th, officer Scott Fike executed a dog in public during a festival. He, and of course, his colleagues claim that it was a necessary act and that lives were in danger. The D.C police department have not punished officer Fike and are firmly making a defense that the dog in question, Parrot, was a Pit Bull and was going to attack officer Fike.
The truth is, Peanut was not a Pit Bull or a Pit Bull mix. Even if he was a Pit Bull or Pit Bull mix, the shooting was not justified. This is just another case of police authority gone wrong and failure to act in a dignified manner, which should be expected of our police force.
Eye witnesses state that officer Fike first pinned down the 2-year old dog by jamming his knee into the dog's back, then pulling the dog's arms behind it's body like he would a real criminal. A dog's arms do not bend that way naturally.
He then grabbed the dog and threw him down a stairwell. What did the dog do? Would he have thrown a human criminal down a stairwell in such a manner? Of course not! This is just a man who most likely let his own dislike of dogs or animals take over his judgement.
After throwing the 2-year old dog down a stairwell, he pulled out his gun and shot Peanut, fatally wounding him.
This was in front of people in broad daylight in a public face. This happened in front of mothers and children.
This officer did this even though the owner of Peanut had him controlled after a brief incident with another dog. The owner had him controlled and this officer grabbed Peanut away from him and proceeded to pin him down to the ground.
People who do not value lives other than their own defend officer Fike. This happened in September and it is about time this man and his department are punished for their actions.
Do we want to be 'protected' by such people? I know I don't. Animals are lives, too, and no badge gives you the right to treat an animal in such a way. This dog was unjustly killed and robbed of a life he deserved to live.
We should be able to choose what kinds of people are allowed to protect us. I choose NOT to be protected or served by this man. He is a public figure, he should wear his uniform and badge with dignity and act in a respectful manner. The events that unfolded on September 19th have deemed this man unworthy and, to be frank, vicious and unstable.
Please sign this petition to bring this matter to light and to force authorities to punished the responsible party.
Parrot deserves justice.
