WHAT IS THE EARLY ACT?
Authored by Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) and sponsored in the Senate by Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), "Young Women's Breast Health Education and Awareness Requires Learning Young Act of 2009'' or ‘‘EARLY Act". would direct the Centers for Disease Control to develop and implement a national education campaign about the threat breast cancer poses to young adult women.

The EARLY ACT would also create a national education campaign for healthcare professionals and create materials to help patients address long-term effects and challenges associated with breast cancer.  Click here to Learn more about the EARLY ACT.

KNOW YOUR RISK
Every woman is at risk for developing breast cancer. In fact, 1 out of 8 American women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. Factors such as age, family history, diet, health abnormalities and environment all play a role. There are a number of resources and tools to help you assess your own risk level for breast cancer. CherokeeGirl for ChangePetition StarterI didn't pay attention to politics except from a dissenting viewpoint during the Reagan / Bush 41 years. I prospered during the Clinton era, so I knew he must have been doing something right. I've always been a registered democrat, but just not engaged or empowered to affect any real change. January of 2008 when I first saw Barack Obama speak he awoke my inner activist. I'm very excited about this new era we are living. We have a lot of work ahead, but it's a relief to know we are heading in the right (left) direction. I now live and breathe politics and world affairs, and feel like I can make a difference in the world. I realize now that citizens must be active in their government. :)
