Women comprise over 50% of the population, yet are severely underrepresented in the leadership of our country: Women hold only 17% of seats in Congress and 24% of State Legislatures.

In honor of Mother's Day, we want everyone to celebrate motherhood by taking action to improve the lives of mothers across the country.

Moms need more women in government because female legislators more often address issues specifically related to mothers, child care, families.

According to CAWP, "elected women are working to make the agenda of legislative institutions more reflective of women's concerns stemming from their roles as caregivers in the family and in society more generally."

Women are more driven to focus on things like equal pay, children's health, maternity and paternity leave, family planning, and affordable child care.
