1. End Wage Discrimination: Pass the Paycheck Fairness Act!! On Jan. 29, 2009, President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act into law. Now it is time to move on to the Paycheck Fairness Act. The Paycheck Fairness Act would deter wage discrimination by closing loopholes in the Equal Pay Act and barring retaliation against workers who disclose their wages. The bill also allows women to receive the same remedies for sex-based pay discrimination that are currently available to those subject to discrimination based on race and national origin.

3. Learn More About Family Tax Credits Tax credits can provide thousands of dollars to working families — but only if families know about the credits and claim them on their tax returns. And this year, due to a recent improvement in the Child Tax Credit, families earning as little as $8,500 are now eligible to receive a refund from the credit. NWLC would like to help you learn more about how you can help families put money in their pockets by spreading the word about tax credits.

4. Child Care: Priorities for the New Administration It's time to move forward on policies that improve child care, Head Start, and early childhood education. For the past several months, a broad group of national and state organizations has been crafting a shared agenda, or "blueprint," for the future of child care. This historic collaboration has produced a solid framework for guiding the reauthorization of the Child Care and Development Block Grant, and other opportunities for child care improvements. For detailed information on SOME of these priorities,
