Renewing the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in 2008 was a mistake. Now we learn that NSA continues to routinely collect Americans' telephone calls and e-mail messages — perhaps by the millions.  The best way to protect us is to repeal FISA and undertake a high level study of how much domestic intelligence gathering is needed and how it can be undertaken without violating our rights to privacy.
