The large wetland area to the north of Fundy Street in Moncton, NB has been partly drained by the landowner and the beaver family that lived there has been trapped and killed. This area was a protected designated wetland until March 2011 when the NB Ministry of the Environment changed provincial rules on wetlands and this removed that designation from this piece of land. This allowed the legal draining of the area by the owner. Since the area had abundant wildlife including beavers, deer, and migratory birds such as duck, geese and black birds and many other species of flora and fauna. We would like to appeal to the various provincial and federal departments to reinstate the wetland designation to this piece of land, so that it is allowed to return to its natural state.
