He is a competent individual who deserves respect, dignity, and choices in his life. He has shown repetitively in his daily life that he is more than capable to make decisions regarding his medical, financial, placement, and social activities. He has served his country, contributed in a positive manner to society for decades, and is an honest and good member of the community. The circumstances that resulted in his guardianship and conservatorship were a temporary and unfortunate result of grief and mourning of his wife and brother. He understands where he can benefit from the help of others, and intends to seek this help with the assistance of his niece and the implementation of his VA benefits.  He is cabable and does not need to be kept in guardianship; therefore we respectfully request you to honor his request for both petitions to be honored.  In the case this is not feasable, please allow him the dignity to choose to have his niece serve as guardian and conservator in the place of his current publlic gurardian.
