We'd all love to plant a forest. But closer to home, we can do something small each day to lessen our carbon footprint upon the earth.

Easy ways to tread a little more lightly include conserving energy by turning off lights when not in use, clicking off the power bar for computer equipment at work and at home, and keeping chargers offline when not needed. Turn down the heat or turn up the air conditioning a degree or two and that helps too!

Try to find one errand a week that allows you to get out and walk. It's a wonderful way to enjoy the world around you, lose a few of those holiday calories, and reduce your car use. If you like, take a bike.

Whether it is taking your own bags to the market, reusing a box to transport an item, or letting the kids have the back of a printed page for art projects, every time that you can reduce, reuse, or recycle a paper item, you're helping to save a tree.
