Declare INTERNET as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
Greetings,
To Mr. Francesco Badarin
Sub-Director General para la Cultura
As you know, the UN has declared that Free and Unrestrictided Access to the Internet is to be considered as a Human Right.
We do think that UNESCO should take a decisive step to protect this new Human Right by declaring it Intangible cultural Heritage of Humanity.
We know that this intiative has to be presented to the UNESCO by one or several States, but due to the actual measures taken by different States to restrict and/or control access and content of the Internet, we have no confindence that actually a Government will support that initiative so we think that in this peculiar case you should hear and take in consideration the direct petition of the People of the World.
Internet is an essential key system to protect and expand through Humanity actual and already protected Intangible Cultural Heritage. Therefore we do consider that the "tool" should also be protected to guarantee the Free and Unrestricted access to Intangible Cultural Heritage.
All associations and organizations of the present petition strongly defend the declaration of Human Rights, we do approve and support the above Joint Declaration made by UN, OEA, OSCE and CADHP. The Joint declaration is available in PDF http://www.osce.org/es/fom/78325 [ES] and http://www.osce.org/fom/78309 [ENG]
We do sincerely hope that you wil take in consideration this petition done directly to your department by Humanity itself.
Yours sincerely,
Francisco George
