Every 20 seconds a child dies of a disease that could have been prevented by a vaccine.

While most children in countries like the U.S. already receive these life-saving immunizations, 2 million children continue to die every year in developing countries of diseases like measles, pneumonia or diarrhea, because they don’t have access to vaccines.

Though these children dying may seem a world away, they aren’t any different from the children in each of our own lives.

Immunizations open the door for a child’s growth and development — giving children a shot at more “firsts” —their first steps, their first words, their first day of school. Immunized children are more likely to celebrate their fifth birthday, do well in school and go on to be productive, healthy adults.
