Armando Sosa Fortuny es un prisionero político cubano que ha extinguido 36 de los 71 años de su vida en las prisiones cubanas; tiempo que  ha horadado su salud.

Armando Sosa está  enfermo y solo en la isla; la hipertensión y la diabetes  comprometen su  salud,  mengua su visión,  y siete lustros  de desafección  convierten su  existencia  en un espacio desolado. Sus familiares, residentes en Miami, por diversas razones no han podido verle en muchos años.

Liberar a Armando no es tema político, ni siquiera jurídico, es un asunto de humanidad. Su "culpa" fue defender con las armas  la  libertad que  le arrebataron. Podemos estar de acuerdo o no con el método que Sosa Fortuny eligió para conseguirla, pero coincidiremos en que 36 años  de prisión son demasiados años.  Armando  en cualquier caso recurrió "al supremo recurso de la rebelión contra la tiranía y la opresión",  como expresa la  Declaración Universal de Derechos Humanos.

Hay que recordar que quienes mantienen  encarcelado a Sosa Fortuny,  la noche del 26 de julio de 1953 asaltaron un cuartel, fueron amnistiados,  y años más tarde consiguieron el poder cegando la vida de centenares de cubanos, todo en nombre de una  libertad que luego quebrantaron. Rebelarse contra ese despojo  es su culpa, y si esa "culpa" se mantiene viva para sus carceleros (que también fueron sus jueces), es la muestra de que los motivos que impulsaron a Sosa Fortuny  mantienen su vigencia.

Armando Sosa pudiera ser uno de los  seres humanos que más años ha extinguido en prisión por motivos políticos; no lo sabemos, pero lo que sí sabemos es que no merece un día más encarcelado.

Campaign for the release of political prisoner Armando Sosa  Fortuny

Armando Sosa Fortuny is a Cuban political prisoner that extinguished 36 of his 71 years of life in Cuban prisons; time that has broken his health.

Armando Sosa is sick and alone on the island; hypertension and diabetes compromise their health, their vision weakens, and seven decades of disaffection make their existence a wasteland. Their relatives, residing in Miami, for diverse reasons do not have seen him in many years.

Free Armando is not a political subject, not even a legal one, it is a matter of humanity. His "guilt" was to defend with arms a freedom that had been stole. We may agree or not with the chossen method, but we agree that 36 years imprisoned are too many years.  Any case, Armando was compelled to the "rebellion against tyranny and oppression", as it expresses the Universal Declaration of human rights.

It must be remembered that those who keep imprisoned to Sosa Fortuny, were the same that the night of the July 26, 1953, attacked a military barracks, and were amnestied, and years later got the power, taking the lives of hundreds of Cubans, all in the name of freedom which they inmediately abrogated. Rebelling against this plunder it is the Sosa Fortuny's fault, and their "guilt" was kept alive for his jailers (who also were his judges), but it is just a sign that the reasons that encouraged Sosa Fortuny maintain its validity nowadays.

Armando Sosa Fortuny could be one of the human beings which more years has been in prision for political reasons; we do not know, but what we do certainly know is that he do not deserve one more jailed day. That's why we send this letter, to ask support in the claim for their freedom.
