For more understanding of Islam and Muslims and clear misconceptions of any kind. Here is an email I have been sending to President Obama, and pasted another email I got from a brother. He gave some advice:

I have been emailing this to the President of the United States, and have sent it to various communities/people. A brother replied to me. So I’m pasting this along with the letter I wrote to the President. Do have a look see.

Dear President Obama/The White House,

 

 

Asalamolaikum. I have emailed and Face booked you several other times regarding my request. I remember you replying to my messages too, you stopped doing that though. Ramadan has finished again, and I am hoping for you to look into making the 2 Eids that Muslims celebrate a national holiday. As I said before Christmas, Hanukkah, and Easter are recognized and respected. Please understand our holiday, and make it a public one too. Christmas is celebrated, and all people are given a few days off in Pakistan. Also, in many other nations Christmas, Easter, and Hanukkah are recognized/celebrated. It would mean a lot not only to me, but to all the Muslims in the United States. May the misconceptions of Islam be removed, and us Muslims be given respect as well. I saw you meet a citizen a while back, you made an effort to go talk to her. I don’t mean to sound jealous, as I’m not but do look into my request. I’ve also Face booked your wife, Oprah Winfrey, and Dr. Oz. I have also contacted Conan O’ Brien through Google plus. I hope they read what I wrote to them, and have gotten in touch with you.

Brother Usman, 

 

 

The president does not have the authority to institute a national holiday in the United States. That power is reserved for the Congress which would have to pass legislation for that to become a reality and given the current state of affairs I do not see how that is possible in the near future. I would suggest that you contact some of the National Muslim Organizations in America and have them lobby their congressmen and women for the holiday.
