Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister, Delhi: Convert the empty Government Bungalows in New Delhi and Govt Schools into Night Shelters for Street Children & the Homeless. Delhi's Cold
The Issue
Dear #MyCMDelhi @ArvindKejriwal,
Hon. Mr. Chief Minister or Arvind of the #AAP your victory is a collective win. When we though there could be no Win Win, you proved us wrong. It is an important moment in history- a turning point for politics in India and the collective social psyche. You stand for hope and the #AAP epitomises clean, corruption free politics in India. We recognize that and celebrate it. You have amplified local governance issues and #AAPKiKasam exemplifies that.
We wish to now draw your attention to #AAPKaAgenda. It requires your immediate attention, action and intervention. Its a simple thing we're asking till a more permanent solution can be find. To convert empty bungalows yours and others and also govt schools, the winter vaccations are on, into night shelters. This will allow many to live a life of dignity, a basic human right.
At last count there are over 50,000 street children and about 150,000 homeless in New Delhi. Many of them I have spotted sporting the #AAMAdmi Topi. An they are out in the biting cold, unprotected against the elements. Natural and manmade. Our elderly and the old are also cold.
It is commendable that you have steadfastly refused all the trappings that come with power. The official bungalow, car, security (while that's contentious). There are therefore many government bungalows vacant in the heart of the city and there are several which continue to be occupied by their occupants, who are way past their right to #occupy them.
There are two simple things we're asking-
1.Please convert these empty, large, centrally located spaces into night shelters for those who need them. To live a life of dignity is a basic right.
2. The street children of the city are asking for very basic things
The #StreetKidCharter- 5 point program
-A legal identity
-Better, safe and equitable working conditions
-An opportunity to access education under RTE
-Implementation of government schemes for the underprivileged children and
-Strict action against people involved in child labour
A study reveals that 50.5 per cent of the street children are not literate. “This percentage makes a mockery of the Right to Education Act which makes elementary education a Constitutional entitlement"

We see in you an agent of #change. Please don't disappoint. As we say in our part of the world #AAP ki "wo imandari kisi kaam ki nahin, jo kisi ke kaam na aaye"
On my birthday hope you will grant me my wish. This would indeed be the best present that you can give an #AAMAurat and a believer. Thank you for giving our faith back to us.
Hope you will deal with the matter with the urgency and immediacy it requires.
The kids are out in the streets, vulnerable and cold hanging on to plastic sheets for protection against the elements.
We hope you will shield them.
This will make a difference. For a brighter tomorrow and for a future we owe to them and us; to India please act. Now.
Request all of you to sign the petition. It will be delivered to the Hon. Chief Minister of Delhi Mr. Arvind Kejriwal with great alacrity. ASAP.
The kids are young and cold. Out in the streets. Vulnerable. And yes a happy new year to you and everyone else.
