Urge Governor Lingle to sign the Hawaiian Anti-Human Trafficking Bill 2045

Urge Governor Lingle to sign the Hawaiian Anti-Human Trafficking Bill 2045
The Issue
Hawaii is one of the few states without comprehensive laws against human trafficking! Forty-five other states have passed human trafficking laws. There is a groundswell of support for ending human trafficking in the United States, as demonstrated by the passage of anti-human trafficking laws in 45 states and by Congress’ nearly unanimous reauthorization of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) in 2008. But more must be done. Due to the clandestine nature of human trafficking, the physical and psychological trauma of victims that make many reluctant to testify, and the inability of federal law enforcement to investigate every case, comprehensive laws are needed in every state.
Hawaii legislators in both the House and the Senate have finally come together to change the status quo by passing Senate Bill 2045, crucial legislation that criminalizes sex trafficking in Hawaii. This is a critical step toward creating the comprehensive laws necessary to eliminate human trafficking. As the bill goes to Governor Lingle for signing, however, it is in grave danger of being vetoed.
This vital legislation is on the Governor’s desk after passing both the House and Senate. Please take action to ensure that Senate Bill 2045 is signed!
OTHER WAYS TO HELP
1. Take the pledge to vote for Free Generation International to receive a $20,000 donation from Chase Bank. They need your vote on Facebook. I don't have $20,000 to donate against human trafficking, but Chase Bank does with your vote.
2. If you would like to do more, please visit the Human Trafficking Petition page on Change.org. There are currently 60+ petitions you can sign to help improve polices and make changes in the fight against modern slavery.
Thank you and keep up the fight!
