Twitter users are at it again. Thousands of people are using the site as a means of spewing off hatred and offensive statements regarding the homeless. Latest case in point - one of the latest trending topics is #myhomelesssignwouldsay. Users post their thoughts on what they would write on their "homeless sign" if they happened to find themselves on the sidewalk without a home. The tweets range from slightly off-color to incredibly offensive. 

The tweets reinforce the many stereotypes and myths sounding homeless individuals.  The homeless become a scapegoat and an easy target for thousands of people to express their hatred and anger. It's offensive and not funny at all. And it's not the first time this has happened on Twitter. Just this summer, this cause brought to light the offensive #hobotweets trend that was quickly gaining popularity.

Please join us in urging Twitter to better regulate their tweets and for them to not promote this type of hatred on their homepage!
