Tell Hillary Clinton: Don't Let Iran Dictate Women's Rights at the U.N.

Tell Hillary Clinton: Don't Let Iran Dictate Women's Rights at the U.N.

The Issue

On April 28th, 2010, the United Nations announced in a press release that the Islamic Republic of Iran had been granted membership to the U.N Commission On The Status of Women.  The Commission meets annually to develop concrete goals and strategies for the advancement of women's equality and the protection of women's rights around the world.  By allowing a government that stones women to death for adultery, throws them in jail for having suntans or wearing pants, and detains, arrests, and imprisons them for peaceful protest to sit on such a comission, the United Nations and its member states are sending a message that they do not care about women's rights.
