Tell Congress: Champion Programs That Lift Kids Out of Poverty

The Issue

More than one in five American children now lives in poverty, according to new Census data. And the situation is even more dire for children of color, with 39 percent of black children and 35 of Hispanic children disadvantaged by poverty.

For America's struggling families, anti-poverty programs like food stamps, unemployment insurance, the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit are a crucial safety net. Yet Congress may be targeting these same programs for cuts as part of their debt reduction effort.

Please join us, and tell Congress: Protect the programs that lift kids out of poverty.
