Tell a Democrat “Blue Dog” to vote for health reform: Mike McIntyre (D-NC)
Tell a Democrat “Blue Dog” to vote for health reform: Mike McIntyre (D-NC)
The Issue
No matter where you're from, if you want health reform to pass this year, please sign on to urge Congressman Mike McIntyre (D-NC) to vote in favor. The House Democratic leadership is struggling to get enough votes to pass the bill. They need McIntyre's vote.
Congressman McIntyre voted against health reform when it passed the House last year. We need to make sure he understands that this bill addresses many of his publicly-stated concerns: it DOES NOT reduce Medicare benefits for seniors, DOES NOT provide public funding for abortion and DOES reduce the deficit. Most importantly, it will provide coverage to hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children. Many of those children are in Congressman McIntyre's district:
* Nearly 12% of children in the 7th district of N.C. have no insurance.
* More than 23% of non-elderly residents here have no insurance.
Both of these stats are higher than the national averages. McIntyre's constituents need health insurance reform, and so does the rest of the state and the country.
