Stop the Use of Genetically-Engineered Crops in National Wildlife Sanctuaries

The Issue

The US Fish and Wildlife Service at the US Department of the Interior recently announced it would halt the planting of genetically-engineered crops in Northeastern National Wildlife Refuges, in a settlement to a lawsuit from several advocacy groups.

However, this practice continues in Southeast refugees. The planting of genetically-engineered crops in these environmentally-sensitive and protected areas threatens native flora and fauna. These unnatural crops require pesticides which pollute the environment, threaten native plants, have the ability to create pesticide-resistant super-weeds and are dangerous to local wildlife and birds.

Ask the US Fish and Wildlife Service to extend their ban on the planting of these crops to Southern wildlife refuges.
