Stop Rand Paul's clean air assault!

Stop Rand Paul's clean air assault!

The Issue

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has introduced a bill that would prevent the EPA’s Cross State Air Pollution Rule—more commonly known as the Good Neighbor Rule—from being implemented and saving thousands of lives a year.

They say good fences make good neighbors—but air doesn’t recognize fences or respect state borders, of course.

When it comes to keeping air and water clean, good laws make good neighbors, and the Cross State Air Pollution Rule is designed to do just that. This rule would protect communities situated downwind from states that produce dangerous levels of smog and soot pollution from power plants.

The Good Neighbor Rule will save up to 34,000 lives, prevent 400,000 asthma attacks, and avoid 1.8 million lost work and school days due to respiratory illnesses every year.

7 million children in the U.S. have asthma – can we afford to allow air pollution to literally poison our loved ones?

Not only would Sen. Paul’s bill (S.J. Res 27) throw out the Cross State Air Pollution Rule immediately, but it could also prevent the EPA from ever issuing a similar rule without explicit new Congressional authorization.

Your Senators need to hear from you today. Tell your Senators to oppose this outrageous and deadly assault on our health.
