The Town of Canmore intends to euthanize up to 2,000 feral rabbits, allegedly because they are damaging properties and may potentially lure predators into downtown. The town council recently approved allocating $50,000 to trap the bunnies and ship them to be used as food. The town is finalizing an agreement with a contractor that has been hired to trap and kill the rabbits but the door remains open for a non-profit group to propose a relocation program. The cull is expected to begin this month.
