Dear sir/madam--

   hawaiis reconstruction law needs to go. the inspectors are all corrupt ( giving out stickers and paperwork to relatives without even looking at the vehicles,passing illegal cars in exchange for several cases of heiniken beer,different interpretations of the law for different people,etc...) and most of us who have performance vehicles make sure our cars are actually safer then the 'normal' vehicles you see everyday.( this is also why the new safety checks gotta go--i am a formerly A.S.E. certified mechanic,and i would simply tell you to think when was the last time that 2006 nissan/toyota/whatever got a new brake line. or new fuel lines. or repacked wheel bearings. or radiator hoses.etc.,etc.,etc....yet because those cars look 'normal', they pass easily, without a second glance. but the hotrods and performance cars are gone over with a fine tooth comb,deliberately looking for reasons to fail them. this is judging a book by its cover, and unfair to say the least as well as unsafe--i thought thats what 'safety check' was for in the first place?) all the things needed for the new safety check-ipads,etc.--were bought and paid for by all of us, using our tax dollars, without even being asked. ( i dont even own an ipad myself because i cant afford it, hello......) these 2 laws are causing a backlog at recon, hundreds of cars failing,etc, and most people-including myself-cant just go out and buy a new car. most of our 50 states dont have reconstruction, and no island besides oahu has it.repeal these laws please--we in the community will be paying attention and i promise you that anyone who supports these 2 laws i WILL NOT support come voting day--i want LESS government intrusion in my life, not more. youre taking too much taxes.youre making life too hard for us.youre making too many rules.youre making my hobby ( remember that line about life,liberty and the pursuit of happiness?) impossible to enjoy.and i am pretty sure that goes for everyone who signs this petition.thank you and aloha.
