Say NO to Foie Gras at the House of Tricks!

The Issue

A well-known and successful restaurant in my city of Tempe (Arizona), the House of Tricks (http://www.houseoftricks.com/site/), still has Foie gras as an entree option on their menu.  Foie gras is one of the cruelest forms of factory farming, equivalent in severity to the process of veal, where ducks and geese are caged throughout the entirety of their life and force fed, three times a day, with large amounts of fattening corn.  Large, long and painful tubes are forcefully shoved down the animal's throat, until an unnatural weight has been reached (to the point where the animal cannot stand).  After slaughter, the overly large liver of the duck or goose is then sold for consumption to the masses.  A video from PETA illustrating this cruel treatment has been attached.

A number of countries and other jurisdictions have laws against force feeding or the sale of foie gras, so why is this still legal here in certain parts of the U.S.?  There are also alternatives to this duck recipe, which can be served in place of this unethical meal.  Even Wolfgang Puck has agreed to take Foie gras off of his menu! http://foie-gras-industry.com/content/compassionate-restaurant-owners-take-foie-gras-menus

I would like to start a petition that will result in at least 400 individuals who will refuse to eat at the House of Tricks until the Foie gras item has been taken off of the menu.  Please sign this petition, especially if you live in Tempe, since this would give even more of an incentive to the House of Tricks!

Please help to stop this establishment from condoning this unnecessary and inhumane treatment of animals.  Do it for the ugly duckling!

Thank you,

Lindsey Johnson
