The Windmill public house is a  vital part of the social infrastructure of Sydenham and Forest Hill's Kirkdale community.  It is the only social gathering space in the area that offers full access to disabled customers and the only venue able to cater for community and family events.  The Windmill is so much more than a pub.  It is the hub around which our community revolves.  The Windmill is a friendly and welcoming space and is particularly popular with women with children, the elderly and the disabled.  Sainsburys wish to close the pub and convert it to a Sainsburys Local supermarket.  If the Windmill closes some sectors of our community will lose their entire social lives.  We believe the Windmill is financially viable, it is bursting with potential and we know it has a future.  It is central to regeneration plans for the area.
