Sack Richard Littlejohn for his hate-filled attack on Carole Duggan

Sack Richard Littlejohn for his hate-filled attack on Carole Duggan

The Issue

He and the paper he works for may be known for hate filled journalism but Richard Littlejohn's latest article on the bereaved family of Mark Duggan is a step too far.

Opening the article with the line "she looked like Vicky Pollard's granny and spoke in a curious hybrid accent...Manc meets Jafaican" Littlejohn launches into an unprecedented personal attack on a woman who was merely speaking up for her nephew, when every mainstream media source attempted to blacken his name as if to justify the verdict of the court.

Littered with unsubtle euphemisms such as "council estate face-lift" and "White Dee" and "Black Dee", this attack is based entirely on class and race.

In the cartoon which associates the article, The Daily Mail have chosen to show a drawing of Carole Duggan (and her family) with white and black faces.

From his completely invented racist slur that Haringey council were paying for Hopscotch lessons for Asian Women, to his relentless victimisation of LGBT people which led to the suicide of Lucy Meadows, to his claim that disabled people should not go on protests if they don't want to get hurt - Richard Littlejohn's hate-filled journalism must be stopped.

We the undersigned call upon Richard Littlejohn to publicly apologise to Carole Duggan and her family for his remarks.

We also call upon the Press Complaints Commission to investigate this article for ethics and accuracy and for The Daily Mail to sack him.
