Make neutering of companion animals compulsory in the UK

The Issue

This petition is to propose that the Government act on the overpopulation of companion animals and ensure that neutering cats and dogs becomes  a legal requirement of pet ownership unless a veterinary need, or a provable need to preserve working bloodlines is established for them not to be neutered.

As well as the overpopulation issue, there are known health benefits to neutering, specifically for cats. With this in mind, it is felt that the law needs to be addressed regarding appropriate care and what is expected of an owner.
